David Kirkham of Kirkham Motorsports built a custom roadster for the CEO of Oracle, Larry Ellison… So of course, money was no option.

Using SolidWorks to virtually optimize every inch of it, they designed the chassis out of billet 6061-T6 aluminum. He’s documented all the details of 2-1/2 years of design and manufacturing in his book The Art of Engineering. All the lovely little geeky details are there for you to enjoy. From the chassis design, engineering and  machining to the painstaking process of sculpting of the aluminum body. It’s a wonderful documentation of the blending of art and technology.

You can get your own copy, with an bound hard cover of course, highly polished aluminum, for $4,500.
