Okay, it’s not really Velcro, but it does have one side with spikes and the other with steel brushes. A square meter of this material, called Metaklett, can support 35 tons and withstand heat at up to 800 degrees Celsius. Developed at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, researchers borrowed from the hook-and-loop concept to design a fastener for extreme loads and environments (think automotive or military applications).
